The house is located on a hill, but close to all. A few minutes’ drive and you have the choice of two major freeways and shopping. A mere 25-minute drive gets you to most major points of interest in San Diego County. It was such a calm, peaceful and quiet home. The only thing I heard outside were birds singing in the morning and crickets chirping at night. The only change I proposed to the hosts (who are always working to improve the place) is to change the name from Gillespie House to Casa Tranquilidad!
I stayed in The White Room. My room had a shared bathroom with the guests of the Turquoise Room. The kitchen was shared by guests of all three rooms, The Lavender Room, The Turquoise Room and The White Room. The sharing of common spaces such as the kitchen, dining area, living room or patio were never issue. At times, we all hung out together in the kitchen for conversation (one night for 5 hours!!! Good times and good conversations). There is enough space for everyone to come together or spread out for quiet time. The successful co-habitation of all occupants was due to the host’s selection criteria.
My room (The White Room) had a very comfortable queen size bed with storage and drawers underneath. The closet in my room was very spacious. Both my room and the living room had TVs equipped with Apple TV. The shared bathroom is big and clean. There is complimentary shampoo (Pantene), shower gel (Neutrogena) and color-coded towels. The color of the towels corresponds to the guest’s rooms. Since my room was The White Room, I had white towels.
The house has been recently renovated and the pictures on the site do not do it justice. I was very impressed when I walked inside. It had all the amenities and comforts of home.
The pièce de résistance are the hosts. They are the two of the most authentic, generous, genuine and kind people you will ever meet. I am grateful every day to have met them.
Lastly, I rarely give a 5-star rating, but Gillespie House [hopefully to be rebranded Casa Tranquilidad) was to be rated on scale from 1 to 5, I would it give it 5 stars! I hope future guests enjoy their stay as much as I did. Thank you for everything!
